About FOUNDATION Fieldbus
FOUNDATION Fieldbus is a digital, bidirectional fieldbus designed to meet the requirements of process automation. This fieldbus is developed and maintained by the Fieldbus Foundation. As a member of the Fieldbus Foundation, Thorsis Technologies GmbH develops solutions that integrate into your existing network.
FOUNDATION Fieldbus H1 enables access to process data as well as the configuration and diagnostics of field devices. FOUNDATION Fieldbus is physically identical to PROFIBUS PA. Both fieldbuses use twisted-pair cables, the same connectors, and support up to 32 devices per segment. The main difference between FOUNDATION Fieldbus and PROFIBUS is cyclic communication. FOUNDATION Fieldbus devices transmit their data at fixed intervals and can communicate with each other even without the master.
Device integration in FOUNDATION Fieldbus is performed via EDD or FDT.
